Husband and proud father of four beautiful, well-grounded children, Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army for six years before returning to civilian life. He has since owned a number of highly successful businesses including a retail store, six bars and a restaurant/lounge.

 

Eventually, Joe was introduced to the music industry by Clarence Jones, who later introduced Joe to Al Haymon. At the time Al Haymon was the only influential, successful and world renowned African American entertainment promoter. Upon seeing his work ethic and attention to detail, Mr. Haymon quickly put Joe in the position of Advance Tour Promoter for Al Haymon tours, including the world famous “Budweiser Superfests”.

 

A short time later, Joe was introduced to R&B legends Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Thirty-five years later and counting the young man of humble beginnings from Huntsville, AL is still the driving force behind the scenes of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly! Joe Douglas has built relationships as manager friend and businessman with well respected public figures, entertainment outlets and venues such as Magic Johnson, AEG Live, Live Nation and promoters worldwide. To date Maze featuring Frankie Beverly averages over 85 performances per year.

Maze featuring Frankie Beverly has toured the world continuously for over thirty-five years and has developed a loyal fanbase while under Joe Douglas’ management. Maze featuring Frankie Beverly has since been likened to Under Joe Douglas’ auspices Maze featuring Frankie Beverly has closed the “New Orleans Jazz Festival” for over 20 years, the “Essence Festival” for 11 years and has performed from Japan to Jamaica, entertaining royalty, heads of state, sports legends, celebrities, and leaders all around the world.

 

Wanting to do something for his hometown, Mr. Douglas only knows how to do things one way, BIG. He soon created “The Old School & Blues Festival” which is currently in its 22nd year and is the largest African American event in Northern Alabama. When Joe started the event, it was the only outdoor R&B Festival in the region. “The Old School & Blues Festival” has become the premiere family event of the season where people roll up to the gate in RVs with the food and drink, set up tents and party into the nigh with world class bands and entertainers!
